The right to roam (allemannsretten) gives people broad access to nature (including tent camping on uncultivated land), but it does not give unrestricted permission to drive or park a motorhome wherever you want. You must park where parking is permitted, and you must not drive or park on uncultivated land. If you’re parking overnight outside a campsite or designated motorhome stopover, follow a few key rules:

• Park legally (follow signs and local rules), and do not drive or park on uncultivated land.

• Keep at least 150 metres (about 500 feet) away from the nearest inhabited house or cabin.

• Don’t stay more than 2 nights in the same place unless you have permission (or you’re in a remote area).
