Driving an RV around Brussels

  • The Low Emission Zone covers the whole capital region. Since 1 January 2026, enforcement has tightened (e.g., Euro 5 diesel and Euro 2 gas vehicles are no longer allowed in the Brussels Region).
  • The toll-free R0 ring road allows you to bypass downtown, but traffic is slow during morning and evening peak hours.
  • Paid street parking is divided into blue, green and grey zones. Use the 4411 service and follow the time limit shown on the meter.
  • Underground parking lots downtown have approximately 1.9m height clearance, so tall RVs need a surface parking lot.
  • Overnight stays on public streets are not permitted. Choose a campground or suburban RV area instead.
  • Belgian law requires a reflective vest and warning triangle inside the vehicle cabin. Police may fine drivers who do not have them.
  • LPG fuel stations appear along highways but are rare within the urban area. Fill up before heading downtown.
  • Speed cameras are located in many city tunnels. Follow the posted 50 km/h speed limit.
