Driving a Campervan around Brussels
- The Low Emission Zone covers the whole capital region. Since 1 January 2026, enforcement has tightened (e.g., Euro 5 diesel and Euro 2 petrol vehicles are no longer allowed in the Brussels Region).
- The toll-free R0 ring road allows you to bypass the centre, but traffic is slow during morning and evening peak hours.
- Paid street parking is divided into blue, green and grey zones. Use the 4411 service and follow the time limit shown on the meter.
- Underground car parks in the centre have approximately 1.9m height clearance, so tall campervans need a surface car park.
- Overnight stays on public streets are not permitted. Choose a campsite or suburban motorhome area instead.
- Belgian law requires a high-visibility vest and warning triangle inside the vehicle cabin. Police may fine drivers who do not have them.
- LPG fuel stations appear along motorways but are rare within the urban area. Fill up before heading to the city centre.
- Speed cameras are located in many city tunnels. Follow the posted 50 km/h speed limit.
