Zona de acampada is the Canary Islands term for a marked camping area in protected natural zones. These areas offer basic services and charge a free or low nightly fee once you obtain the required permit.
Much of the land in Spain is privately owned. Permission must be granted if you wish to spend the night there.
Spain has designated areas for campervans where you can spend a night at no cost.
In addition, there are plenty of campsites, starting at around €9 per night.
All drivers must have a current and full driver’s licence to hire a vehicle. For foreign licences, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required.
Note: policies vary from supplier to supplier. Always check the T&Cs for your rental.
