Driving a Campervan around Athens

• Attiki Odos ring road charges about €6.30 for a two-axle campervan. Pay cash at the toll booth or use an electronic pass.
• The Daktylios traffic restriction zone operates on weekdays from mid-October to mid-July. Vehicles with odd and even license plate numbers take turns entering the zone on different days. Older diesel vehicles with high emissions need a special permit.
• Greek law bans overnight parking on beaches, at archaeological sites and in most public parking areas. You must use official campsites or designated RV parking areas.
• Blue zone street parking in the city center requires payment through scratch cards or the MyAthensPass mobile app. Maximum parking time is three hours and sleeping in vehicles is not allowed.
• A park-and-ride parking area near Piraeus Port has extra-wide parking spaces for day visits. Shuttle buses run every 15 minutes to the Plaka district.
• Ferry deck space for RVs fills quickly in summer. Book ferry trips to the Cyclades islands or Crete well in advance.
• LPG fuel stations are common on Attiki Odos highway and National Road 1 but rare on the islands. Fill your LPG tank before boarding any ferry.
