Porto connects to Lisbon via the A1 highway and to Spain's Galician coast on the A28 highway.
Conditional Automobile Access Zones (ZAAC) in parts of the historic center are controlled via the ZAACPorto system and access is limited to registered/authorized users (for example Cedofeita, Flores, Ribeira and Santa Catarina).
Most RVs are classified as toll Class 2 when the front-axle height is over 1.10 meters (3 ft 7 in). Pay with Via Verde electronic system or at card payment lanes.
Outside protected areas you may stay up to 48 hours per municipality in a self-contained RV. Longer stays or overnight parking in protected nature areas (Natura 2000 zones) may result in fines.

ASA (Área de Serviço para Autocaravanas) is Portugal's basic RV service area. These locations provide paved parking, fresh water and dump stations for approximately €5 – 12 per night.
Wild/free camping in Portugal is not generally permitted, and enforcement can be strict in certain areas. If you are caught breaking the rules, you may receive an on-the-spot fine.
Portugal has many campsites across the country, with prices varying widely by region and season.
All drivers must have a current and full driver’s license to rent a vehicle. Drivers are allowed to drive up to 6 months in Portugal without an International Driving Permit (IDP).
In addition, some RV rental suppliers require the driver to have held their license for a certain period of time (1-3 years).
