  • The AP-8 Cantabrian motorway goes around the city. A two-axle camper pays about €12.35 between Bilbao and San Sebastián
  • The Artxanda tunnels on the BI-631 ring road charge a small toll and have a height limit of 4.5 meters
  • The low-emission zone (ZBE) covers Abando and Casco Viejo areas Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 20:00. Foreign license plates must register online. Only ECO, C or Zero-label vehicles can drive without restrictions
  • Morning traffic is heaviest from 08:00 to 09:30 on the BI-623 and BI-631 roads leading into the city. You can park at Etxebarri or Leioa and take the metro instead
  • The scenic BI-2122 coast road to Getxo and Sopela is narrow with sharp turns, so allow extra time
